近年来,海洋岩石圈研究的一个重要进展,是在海底及洋中脊发现了热液金属矿床。该矿床不但能与海底锰结核争雄,而且更引人注目。因为这些矿床的金属品位很高,水深大都在2000—3000米,比锰结核还浅,分布范围亦较广泛,是未来有潜在价值的矿床。这些矿床,不仅存在于洋中脊,而且在海底一些转换断层带及岛弧和弧后盆地亦有发现。
In recent years, an important advance in the research on marine lithosphere has been the discovery of hydrothermal metal deposits in the seabed and mid-ocean ridges. The deposit not only can compete with the manganese submarine nodules, but also more eye-catching. Because of the high metal grade of these deposits, the water depth is mostly in the range of 2000-3000 meters, which is shallower than that of manganese nodules and the distribution range is also wider. It is a potential deposit of potential value in the future. These deposits are found not only in mid-ocean ridges, but also in some converted seafloor faults and island and backarc basins.
