It is known that luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (LHRH) stimulates the synthesis and release of pituitary gonadotropin, which in turn leads to changes in gonadal hormones. In recent years, it has been reported that long-term administration of LHRH or its highly active analogue to rats results in a decrease in gonad weight and decrease in sex hormone production, presumably due to reduced gonadal sensitivity to gonadotrophin in the rat gonads. This article observes that the continuous use of LHRH to normal women reduces the sensitivity of the pituitary and gonads. The authors selected 3 normal women aged 26 to 30 years as subjects who started intravenous LHRH at the follicular phase at 1.4 μg per minute for 72 hours. Blood samples were taken every 4 hours and the hormone to be tested was stored at low temperature. One of the patients underwent the second experiment continuously, with 50 IU of human pituitary FSH intramuscularly every 6 hours for 36 hours.
