《黎明之屋》是标志着美国印第安文学复兴的地标性作品。目前国内外评论往往关注该作品中的种族文化身份诉求以及印第安口头传统的现代呈现,而忽略文本产生的西方文化大语境。本文则从文本的“逃离—回归”的循环结构指出作品所体现出的西方存在主义思想,揭示作品中无所不在的荒谬感、个人自由选择超越荒谬感的可能性以及必须为此承担的责任,并指出正是阅读语境弥漫的存在主义意识促成了作品的广泛接受与赞誉。
The Dawn House is a landmark work that marks the renaissance of American Indian literature.
