连贯是语篇的特征。作者在写作时,通过一些自然的、无标记的和强加的、有标记的衔接手段建立连贯的语篇。读者在遇到理解困难时,就要解剖作者的衔接手段,把握作者的创作思路。大学英语课堂教学应立足于篇章,教师的作用是帮助学生发现作者使用词汇衔接等手段建立的语篇意义联系,使英语教学中语言基础知识、阅读能力和交际能力的培养得以兼顾。
Coherence is a feature of discourse. When writing, the author establishes coherent discourse through a number of natural, unmarked, imposed, and marked cohesive devices. When readers encounter difficulties in understanding, they must dissect the author’s cohesive devices and grasp the author’s creative ideas. College English classroom teaching should be based on chapters. The role of teachers is to help students discover that the authors use vocabulary cohesion and other means to establish the meaning of the text, so that the English language teaching in language basic knowledge, reading ability and communicative competence can be taken into account.
