网格媒体(GridMedia)系统是新一代流媒体系统,该系统将网格技术与流媒体传输领域有机的结合起来,能够实现超大规模环境下的多媒体传输,并能广泛用于网络电视台、视频点播、远程教育、视频会议、多媒体新闻发布、网络视频广告展示等多媒体信息服务。GridMedia 是国内第一个基于网格的宽带媒体服务平台,2005年3月第一次在 AVS 会议上演示;2005年5月19号正式对清华校园网运行。 The GridMedia system is a new generation of streaming media system. It combines the grid technology and the streaming media transmission field organically, and can realize the multimedia transmission in the very large-scale environment, and can be widely used in the network television stations, video on demand , Distance education, video conferencing, multimedia press releases, online video advertising and other multimedia information services. GridMedia is the first grid-based broadband media service platform in China. It was first demonstrated at the AVS conference in March 2005 and officially operated on the Tsinghua campus network on May 19, 2005.
