On-site rock mass stress measurement and rock mass engineering stress analysis have always been one of the areas where rock mechanics research is very active. On-site stress measurement and analysis of soft rock masses is one of the urgent problems to be solved. In view of the technical difficulties in measuring the in-situ stress of weak and broken rock masses, from 1983 to 1984, the Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences developed a hollow inclusion wall hole strain gage and conducted laboratory verification tests.
