《左传》等传世文献中记载有大量薳(蒍)氏家族的信息,南阳淅川发现有(郐)氏家族墓葬,楚简等出土文献中还包含有(蒍)氏家族及遠氏(学界以为即薳氏)家族的信息.结合传世文献及出土文献,并运用考古出土材料和业已取得的研究成果,对上述几大家族作重新认识和考察,可以发现,春秋时薳(蒍)氏家族在楚国的地位很显赫,至战国时开始衰败.传世文献可见,薳氏即(药)氏.薳与(莴),作为邑是不同的地名,在金文及楚简中,(蒍)地即(螂)地.薳与(蒍),作氏称可互通.作氏称时,在金文及楚简中薳另作遠；(蒍)则另作(邶)(娜)、(鄢).
