以往评定金刚石钻头使用好坏的依据是钻速、钻头进尺和单位进尺金刚石消耗量（克拉/米）三个指标，今后应明确将金刚石钻头每米成本列入合理选择钻头的主要指标。推广金刚石钻头钻进以来，由于技术水平和管理水平的不断提高，钻速、台月效率、台年进尺不断增长，钻头进尺（天然孕镶钻头和人造孕镶钻头）逐年提高，初步摸索出了孕镶钻头的钻进规律，即在岩层（7、8、9级岩石）条件基本相同情况下，天然孕镶钻头比人造孕镶钻头单位小时进尺略高一些，而钻头进尺和钻头价格则高很多。
