石河子地区一二一团农场的耕地,经过20多年耕种,土壤含盐量大为减少,土壤全氮和有机质含量较荒地高1倍以上。但是,这种肥力状况,远不能适应农业生产发展的需要。据对八连30多块条田的测定,土壤的全氮量一九七三年为每亩208.5斤,一九七四年为200.5斤;土壤有机质含量一九七三年为每亩3,073斤,一九七四年为2,851斤。这与大寨亩产千斤以上的土壤所含的量(每亩含全氮450斤,有机质8,900斤)相比,差距很大。因此,必须进一步做好养地工作,不断提高土壤肥力。
