I. INTRODUCTION The dam of Chencun Hydropower Station is a concrete gravity arch dam with a maximum height of 76.3m and a crest length of 419m. It is divided into 28 blocks (numbered from 3 to 30 from left to right) with a crest elevation of 126.3m . The dam was started construction in 1958, suspended in 1962, and resumed construction in 1968. It was poured to the original design crest elevation of 125.0m in 1972 and increased to 1.3m in 1978 to reach the elevation. At the beginning of 1972, it was found that there were more horizontal cracks distributed between 80 ~ 105.5m in the downstream dam surface, of which the horizontal cracks near 105m elevation (hereinafter referred to as 105 cracks)
