广西桂平麒麟山重晶石矿床产于著名的凭祥—大黎区域大断裂内。通过对该矿床的岩矿鉴定,于该矿区首次发现了重晶石质糜棱岩。结合宏观地质资料的分析研究,认为矿床的矿石类型多样,计有重晶石型、石英重晶石型、金属硫化物重晶石型等。重晶石矿化具多期性。主期重晶石矿化在断裂硅化作用之后,其后有韧—脆性剪切带构造的叠加改造。在剪切带活动的过程中伴有低温成矿热液的重新活动,新生的张裂隙中又有新的重晶石脉生成。麒麟山重晶石矿床的变形特征部分地反映了凭祥—大黎区域大断裂的活动历史,从产于断裂中矿体的微观特征来看凭祥—大黎断裂为一脆—韧性剪切构造带。
