气缸套是内燃机的一个重要易损件,原来都是使用高磷铸铁等材料制造的,在汽车、拖拉机上装机使用平均寿命仅为15万公里或2000小时左右,与世界先进水平比差距很大。1972年以来,我国一些生产、科研、教学单位,开始研究用硼铸铁做气缸套以提高其使用寿命,目前已取得了可喜的成果。根据在6120、495、490、2125、259柴油机上装机使用证明,使用寿命已达到25~30万公里或4000~5000小时,同时从几年来的试验和批量投产证明,硼铸铁的生产工艺是稳定的,操作并不复杂,废品率低,硼元素立足国内易于获得。虽成本约增加5~6%,但和使用寿命延长给使用部门带来的利益是无法相比的。
