齐为民被誉为“儿童电影专业户”,在超级大片和大片成为电影市场绝对主力的当下,他的焦点却越来越小,从儿童电影到残障儿童电影,从艺术电影到少数民族电影、青少年电影……由他直接发起和参与的电影、电影活动逐渐形成一张网,连接处是活跃在大众视线之外的电影、电影人、电影观众.rn制片人管理专业出身的齐为民参与的第一部电影就是儿童电影,片名《考试》——一个老师坚守小岛教5个孩子读书的故事.此后,他先后制片和导演了20余部电影,无一不是儿童电影.“儿童电影的小众化”在齐为民看来完全是一种偏见,“我们都知道电影市场对儿童电影不友好,但不是说儿童电影就没有市场了.”他始终坚信,需要用一种开拓者的精神让孩子们看到真正属于他们的电影.
