魏风江教授是中国学术界研究泰戈尔学者中的代表,是中印文化交流和两国人民友好合作的桥梁。他与圣雄甘地、独立运动领袖尼赫鲁相处很久,又曾与前总理英迪拉·甘地夫人在国际大学同学。 魏风江是浙江萧山县人。1933年,上海成立“中印学会”,向印度派遗学者和留学生。22岁的魏风江因成绩优异,经恩师潭云山向会长蔡元培推荐,于当年只身赴印度,来到距加尔各答90英里的生汀尼克坦,就读于泰戈尔创办的国际大学。1937年夏季,又受泰戈尔派遗,去华而达,在甘地主持的真理学院学习近半年:回来后,继续在国际大学研究院深造。1939年,魏风江返回祖国。他在印度前后共6年。
Professor Wei Fengjiang is a representative of Chinese academic circles studying Tagore scholars and a bridge linking China and India in cultural exchanges and the friendly cooperation between the two peoples. He spent a long time with Mahatma Gandhi, leader of the independent movement Nehru, and also with former Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi at his international university. Wei Fengjiang is a native of Xiaoshan County, Zhejiang Province. In 1933, Shanghai set up a “China-India Institute” to send scholars and students to India. Wei Fengjiang, 22, was recommended by President Yuan Yuanshan to President Cai Yuanpei for his outstanding performance. In that year he went to India alone and came to Tingting Niketan 90 miles from Calcutta to attend International University founded by Tagore. In the summer of 1937, he was again sent by Tagore to go to China and studied for nearly half a year in the Faculty of Theology under the auspices of Gandhi: After returning, he continued his studies at the International University Institute. In 1939, Wei Fengjiang returned to the motherland. He has been in India for six years.
