We will analyze the Doppler signal of an 8 mm dead-weight radar navigation system to determine the effect of ocean roughness on the radar backscatter bandwidth. The ground-based accuracy given by the wave height can be estimated from the calculation of the ocean conditions obtained by scientists on board the aircraft based on meteorological records. This result is expressed by the coefficient of Q. This Q factor varies inversely with the bandwidth and is independent of flight altitude and speed. When this data is processed so that the wave height is increased, there is a tendency for the Q factor to decrease as the wave height increases. As a result, bandwidth increases and ocean roughness also increases.
