黏土矿物是一类含水硅酸盐矿物,其形成离不开水。科学家认为,假如火星上过去曾有生命存在,这些矿物就有可能含有构成生命的某些化学成分,研究黏土矿物有助于确定火星过去的表面环境是否适合生命形式存在。
Clay minerals are a class of hydrous silicate minerals that can not be separated from water. Scientists believe that if the life of Mars on the past had existed, these minerals may contain some of the chemical composition of life, the study of clay minerals help determine the surface conditions of Mars in the past is suitable for the existence of life forms.
