Purpose To improve the management of narcotic drugs and promote the management of such drugs. Methods The Department of Anesthesiology started to set up the electronic anesthesia area unit in May 2011 and set up a medicine cabinet for storing individual narcotic capsules at night. The Director of Anesthesiology participated in the comments and management of doctor’s orders and prescriptions. Record before and after the improvement of each day a drug management nurses spent time, drug and drug cabinet into the counter, the number of substandard prescriptions, parallel statistical analysis. Results The daily medication administration time per nurse was (6.88 ± 2.10) h and (5.62 ± 2.31) h after the improvement, with statistical significance (t = 9.354, P = 0.000) The incidence of unqualified red prescribing increased by 4.8% and 0.8% after the improvement, respectively (χ2 = 12.29, P <0.05) Significance (χ2 = 5.95, P <0.05). Conclusion The management of narcotic drugs in a comprehensive and systematic manner can meet the anesthesia needs of surgical patients in time and ensure the safety and quality of narcotic drugs.
