Background Recent studies have demonstrated that angiotensin (Ang)-(1-7) plays an important role in the development of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH).Our previously study showed that serum Ang-(1-7) level was decreased in patients with PAH due to congenital heart disease (CHD).The present study aimed to investigate the changes of serum Ang-(1-7) before and after intervention closure. Methods fifty-nine patients with CHD were included. The patients were divided into non-PAH (group A),mild PAH (group B) and moderate PAH (group C).The serum Ang-(1-7) was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) at 1 day before operation and 2 days after operation. Results Before intervention closure, serum angiotensin-(1-7) level was significantly lower in group C than that in group A and group B.After intervention closure operation, serum Ang-(1-7) level was increased in group B and group C.Conclusion Serum Ang-(1-7) level is increased in PAH patients after interventional closure operation of CHD,which might be used as potential clinical biomarkers to evaluate the postoperative prognosis for these patients.
