In mid-October 2005, TGL, a subsidiary of MAN in Germany, won the “Truck of the Year 2006” award with a score of 94 (out of 133) at the 2005 European Roadshow Awards Presentation Ceremony in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. 19 famous European professional journalists of the Grand Prix judge fully affirmed the MAN TGL series trucks. The jury chairman Briton Andy Salter said: “All of the 2005 truck candidates were excellent and the awards were very popular. The fact of winning a victory undoubtedly demonstrates the superiority of the truck. ”One of TGL’s biggest strengths is the new generation of MAN’s common rail diesel engine: the D08 series. The system consists of three 4-cylinder engines and a 6-cylinder engine. The economical 4-valve 4.6L and 6.9L engines feature the 2nd generation 7-hole direct injection technology and turbochargers with intake air cooling for a power range of 111.8-178.8kW (150-240hp). In addition, the long-stroke engine at 1400r / min and 1800r / min speed when the torque between 570-925Nm, accelerate faster and enhance driving capacity. Lightweight, high-strength materials and low engine mass ensure long engine life and excellent economy.
