Coarse woody debris refers to the standing tree, the root pile, the fallen wood and the big branch in the forest ecosystem. It is an important component of the forest ecosystem and plays an important ecological function. It is a long-term carbon pool. However, in the carbon pool research, Often overlooked. CWD storage volume changed greatly. From a worldwide perspective, the CWD volume decreased as the latitude decreased. The CWD carbon storage in the United States and China also showed a decrease with the decrease of latitude. The CWD time dynamics of natural forests were generally “U” Type, but there are other models, or no explicit model. The decomposition of CWD is affected by climatic factors such as temperature and precipitation, and is closely related to the characteristics of wood. The abundant forest types in our country provide a good condition for CWD research. Domestic scholars have done a lot of research on CWD storage and decomposition, but they are still in the initial stage compared with the world’s advanced level. Combining field investigation, long-term experiment and model simulation, the CWD carbon pool’s current and future status needs to be clarified.
