在世界各国越来越依赖创新驱动经济发展的背景下,面对总需求相对不足的局面,日本学者从需求的角度对产品创新与经济增长的关系展开了深入研究。作为对经济增长理论的补充与发展,他们认为经济增长依赖需求,产品创新是经济增长的源泉,从而需求与产品创新相互促进并从根本上推动着经济增长。同时,日本学者也在实证方面研究了产品创新与需求的相互作用所产生的产业结构高级化与经济增长的关系,并运用具体事例说明了需求对最终消费品创新的影响以及中间投入品的创新对产品创新和需求的影响。在理论与实证研究基础上,日本政府也在科学技术政策、经济增长战略、产业结构政策等方面出现了相应的政策变化。
