1988年日本铝罐产量将增至50亿个以上.各铝罐生产厂家面对新的需求,正不断改造、增设铝罐生产线. 日本最大的制罐公司三菱金属公司原有8条铝罐生产线,年产能为14亿个以上.富士小山工厂和岐阜工厂分别改造1条生产线. 富士小山工厂将250毫升铝罐生产线改为与350毫升罐兼用的生产线.岐阜工厂新建的350毫升罐生产线将进一步高速化,这条生产线原来每分钟制罐1000～1200个(普通的生产线每分钟制罐800个),这次改造后,每分种可制罐1300个.
