广深铁路从北而南,横穿深圳市区,把市区分隔为东西两部。随着特区经济的发展、铁路车次增多和市区东西走向机动车辆总流量的猛增,市区过铁路的道路交通堵塞日益频繁,严重影响特区经济发展和市容。1984年深圳市政府和广州铁路局,经过反复研究,决定按铁路技术标准容许的最大坡度抬高线路,修建铁路高架桥,使市区铁路的东、西部沟通成为整片,彻底解决铁路运营对道路交通的干扰。
Guangzhou-Shenzhen Railway runs from north to south across Shenzhen’s urban area, dividing the urban area into two parts.
