兴平市地处渭河中游北岸,渭河从武功县陈家坎村东入境,流经我市南缘的桑镇、汤坊、丰仪、庄头、阜寨、田阜六个乡镇,29个自然村,至尹家村西进入秦都区。辖区流程30.5公里,河岸线长度32.2公里(其中北岸长30.5公里,南岸长1.7公里)。1974年以来,经过全市人民的不懈努力,特别是近几年的连续治渭会战,使多年游荡不定的渭河基本得到了控制。目前已建成防洪大堤29.11公里,护岸短坝489座,砌石护岸15.89公里。治渭工程的兴建不但保护了治渭
