科技查新工作是科学技术迅速发展的产物,也是科技情报信息机构主动为科学研究、社会发展、技术创新提供情报信息服务的具体体现.日益规范的科技查新工作已成为科研立项、成果鉴定与报奖、专利申请、新产品开发、新技术引进等科技工作中不可缺少的重要环节,它对于维护科技项目评价的严肃性、权威性和公正性,避免不必要的重复研究和浪费,促进科研管理的科学化、规范化发挥了重要作用,已受到各级科技管理部门和科研院所、高校及企业的普遍重视.
