一 晚年的屠格涅夫,虽多次声称不再提笔写作,可是办不到。他继续观察思考,努力理解纷繁复杂的生活现象。他晚年的写作,特别是小说《死后》、《梦》等,显得奇特而矛盾,流露了怀疑与痛苦的情绪,不如五、六十年代那么明朗。可是我们要想到:他晚年过着孤独的生活,又患了不治之症,经常想到死这是很自然的事。综观他的全部创作,与其把他的精神面貌想象成愁苦不堪的样子,不如把他看作一位虽然在垂首沉思,但眼睛里尚未熄灭青春之火的明哲长者。屠格涅夫说过:“有黑暗,光才有了亮色。”此话给人启发。也许,正因为有了暗色的背景,他垂暮之年的艺术作品读起来才
Turgenev in a later year, though repeatedly claiming that he would no longer pen and writing, could not do so. He continued to observe and try hard to understand the complex phenomenon of life. However, we must think that he lived a lonely life in his later years and suffered from incurable diseases. It is quite natural to think of death often.
