The gardens in the ancient city of Suzhou in the Ming and Qing Dynasties have reached the highest peak in history both in terms of number and level of art. According to Wei Jiaxuan’s “Statistical History of Suzhou Classical Gardens,” the total number of gardens in and around the city of Suzhou in the Qing Dynasty is about 100. As stated in the poems of Emperor Kangxi of the Kangxi era: “Sue City is good, city half garden pavilion.” “The “Suzhou City Map” which was carved in the ten years of Qianlong (1745) is a detailed depiction of the face of Suzhou City after “Pingjiang Map”. In the map, there are literally hundreds of sites of arable land and gardens, and dozens of ponds. It is of great significance to the study of garden land in the ancient city of Suzhou. This thesis tries to take a cursory look at the scale and distribution of garden land in the map, and takes a glimpse of the general situation of the garden construction in the ancient city of Suzhou in the middle and early period and its impact on the ancient city of Suzhou.
