D-S is a potent glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase inhibitor that is normally present in human plasma. Its concentration peaks during puberty and gradually declines with age. D-S is known to inhibit the growth of tumors such as human skin, lungs, colon, and breast tissue. The authors further studied the effect of D-S on the growth of pancreatic cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. In vitro, the pancreatic cancer cell line MiaPaCa-2, Capan-1 was selected.
