陶行知先生指出:儿童的创造力是千千万万祖先,至少经过五十万年与环境适应斗争所获得而传下来之才能之精华。发挥或阻碍、加强或削弱,培养或摧残这创造力的是环境。教育是要在儿童自身的基础上,过滤并运用环境的影响,以培养加强发挥这创造力,使他长得更有力量,以贡献于民族与人类。教育不能创造什么,但他能启发解放儿童创造力以从事于创造之工作。
Mr. Tao pointed out that children’s creativity is the essence of the talents passed down by tens of millions of ancestry and at least 500,000 years of struggle against environmental adaptation. It is the environment that plays or blocks, strengthens or weakens, fosters or destroys this creativity. Education is to filter and exert the influence of the environment on the basis of the children themselves so as to cultivate and enhance their creativity so that they may become more powerful and contribute to the nation and the people. What education can not create, but he can inspire the liberation of children’s creativity to engage in the work of creation.
