The critical strength of concrete refers to the lowest strength of a concrete that receives a certain strength and is frozen without suffering freezing injury. That is to say, the strength of the 28-day standard after reaching the minimum intensity and after freezing is not more than 5% as compared with that of the 28-day standard. China’s current code (GBJ204-83), 7.1.2, stipulates that the critical strength of concrete poured in winter prior to freezing refers to concrete without antifreeze. If this standard is used to control the critical strength of concrete mixed with antifreeze, it will inevitably lengthen the construction period and increase the project cost. Therefore, it is urgently needed to study and determine the critical strength of concrete mixed with antifreeze. That is to say, the paper discusses the critical strength of antifreeze concrete.
