病害是红薯贮藏期间腐烂的主要原因,一般腐烂损失率占窖藏量30%。1970年以来,我县根据外地经验,运用高温大窑窖原理,结合我县丘陵山区的自然特点,建造了一批高温大窑窖,经过实践考验,证明这种贮藏方法,对于防止红薯黑斑病和软腐病具有一定作用。如我县拱水公社1970年155个生产队建窖125个,贮藏鲜薯120万斤,病害基本没有发生;而同年用旧式窖贮藏的115.5万斤鲜薯,腐烂30.4万斤,占总贮藏量的26.3%。由于应用高温大窑窖贮藏红薯是一项成功的经验,解决了红薯贮藏的老大难问题,促进了红薯生产的发展,受到广大贫下中农和社员群众的欢迎。
