This paper introduces the pre-well drilling activities undertaken by China Oilfield Services Co., Ltd. in the South China Sea and discusses the new artificial seabed technology to be used in drilling operations in deep-water oil fields. The market for deep-water drilling has been expanding continuously in the recent 10 years.
