According to the recent mid-term forecast by the Japan Association of Manufacturers of Instrumentation, Japan’s EDM output value reached 1,015.3 billion yen in 1989, almost double the 6,191 billion yen in 1984, with an average annual growth rate of 10.4 %. It is expected that the development of electrical and electronic test and measurement equipment will be even more gratifying. In 1989, the output value will reach 618.1 billion yen, with an average annual growth rate of 14.5%. Tubes and test and measurement devices, such as logic analyzers, FFT analyzers and data communication line testers, which are mainly focused on LSIs, will play a major role in Japan’s instrumentation industry.
