York Sensors Inc. has developed a technology that uses distributed temperature sensors to provide a continuous distribution of temperature and position. The system uses standard long-range communication multimode 50 / 125μm fiber to detect changes in local light scattering power due to temperature changes. A single fiber length of 20 km acts as a sensing element, measuring temperature and position from 10,000 positions. Weighing in terms of distance, spatial resolution, temperature resolution, and measurement time. In 5s, ± 1 ℃ resolution, 1km distance range, up to 1m spatial resolution. Within 60s 1m spatial resolution and 10km distance, or 10m spatial resolution and 20km case, can reach ± 2.5 ℃ temperature resolution.
