Objective To understand the status of human demodex infection in medical college students over the past 10 years and to provide basis for treatment and prevention. Methods A total of 1,303 students from different counties, cities and districts of Ningxia from 1999 to 2008 were enrolled in the study. Adhesive tape is placed on the slide under the light microscope to check the various data for statistical analysis. Results A total of 1303 students were investigated. The annual infection rate was 34.11% ~ 6.11%, the average infection rate was 19.26%. The overall infection rate was 18.18% for boys and 20.20% for girls, and there was no significant difference between boys and girls (P> 0.05). The infection rate of Hui students was 28.98%, the infection rate of Han people was 15.74%, and there was significant difference between Hui and Han students (P <0.01). Demodex infection accounted for 30.28% (76/251), hair follicle mite infection accounted for 68.13% (171/251), mixed infection was 1.59% (4/251). I degree infection accounted for 83.27% (209/251). Conclusion The overall infection rate in the 10 years between 2000 and 2009 showed a downward trend, and the prevalence of Hui students was higher than that of the Han people. This may be related to the social and economic level, the gradual improvement of people’s living quality, the gradual improvement of the cultural quality and hygiene conditions of the population. In addition to mite cleaning products, The emergence of cosmetics, the popularity of media medical advertisements, Hui life habits, customs, eating habits.
