目前,汤姆逊公司研制出了一族机载雷达发射机用的大功率行波管。其瞬时带宽在X波段为3~5%。对于从多普勒雷达所用的几千瓦到脉冲压缩雷达所用的100千瓦左右的峰值功率来说,这些管子的平均功率约为几百瓦。多普勒雷达的重复频率可达几百千赫。一个栅极系统可以以相对低的控制电压(对于45KV的阴极电压来讲低于1KV)调制电子束,电子束由钐—钴磁铁聚焦,其矫顽磁力大于7000奥斯特。采用一级或数级电压低于慢波结构电压的降压收集后,行波管的电子效率可达30~40%。
Currently, Thomson has developed a family of high-power TWTs for airborne radar transmitters. Its instantaneous bandwidth is 3 ~ 5% in X band. The average power for these tubes is about a few hundred watts for a peak power of about 100 kilowatts for several kilowatts from Doppler radar to pulse compression radar. Doppler radar’s repetition rate can reach hundreds of kilohertz. A grid system can modulate the electron beam with a relatively low control voltage (less than 1 kV for a cathode voltage of 45 kV), the electron beam is focused by a samarium-cobalt magnet and has a coercivity greater than 7000 oersteds. Using one or several levels of voltage below the voltage of the slow-wave structure of the buck collection, the TWT electronic efficiency up to 30 ~ 40%.
