Objective To investigate the changes of endothelin - 1 (ET - 1) and Na + -K + ATPase activities in brain tissue after cardioversion and resuscitation in dogs and to explore the possible mechanism of ET - 1 in brain injury after resuscitation. Methods Standard cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed in ventricular fibrillation cardioversion resuscitation. The changes of ET - 1 and Na + -K + ATPase activities in brain tissue before ventricular fibrillation were measured at 10 minutes and 30 minutes, 2 hours and 4 hours after resuscitation, respectively. The relationship between the two. Results The content of ET - 1 in brain tissue increased significantly after cardiac arrest and resuscitation, while the activity of Na + -K + ATPase decreased significantly. Conclusions The increase of ET - 1 content in brain tissue after cardiac arrest and resuscitation may cause brain injury. One of the possible mechanisms is the inhibition of Na + -K + ATPase activity.
