Bryan: Whew, what a day: First packing, then driving, then unpacking, and then all those goodbyes.
Dee: I know, but it was all worth it to see our little girl off.
Bryan: I can’t believe she’s starting university. I feel as old as the hills.
Dee: Don’t say that! If you’re old, then I must be old, too.
Bryan: You’ll never get old. ①You’re still the most beautiful kid on the block as far as I’m concerned. ②Thank God Juanita takes after you.
Dee: But she’s got your brains. I swear that girl gets smarter by the minute.
Bryan: Yeah, but she’s got a whole new set of problems now. Organization has never been her strong suit, and now she’s going to have to deal with schedules, buying books, grocery shopping, and doing her homework without you
1)nagging her.
Dee: Haha, I bet she won’t miss my nagging. Too bad we can’t be there to help her out, you know?
Bryan: I know babe, but you gotta let her walk her own path on this one.
Dee: Don’t I know it; she won’t let me forget! I guess I just wish that ③she were taking baby steps instead of diving in with both feet.
Bryan: She’ll figure it out—we did when we were her age.
Dee: Oh don’t remind me! My only fear is that she’s going to meet a boy like you.
Bryan: Ouch! You’ve wounded my poor heart.
Dee: ④Don’t you act like you’re as innocent as a lamb. ⑤I almost flunked out of that Intro to Human Geography class because I spent so much time skipping class with you.
Bryan: But it all turned out for the best. You married me, didn’t you?
Dee: Best choice I ever made.
Bryan: So let our little one go out and make some mistakes. She’ll be a better person for it.
Dee: I know you’re right, but that doesn’t mean I have to
like it.
Bryan: Doth my ears deceive me? Did you just admit that I was right?
Dee: ⑥Don’t let it go to your head, mister. Come on, let’s go get something to eat.
Bryan: You’re the boss.
Dee: And don’t you forget it!
