The authors observed 224 cases of supratentorial cholesteatoma patients during 1965-1978. 91 cases were radical mastectomy (1965-1971) which was performed to lower the posterior wall of the external auditory canal, and 133 cases were treated with mastoidectomy Surgery (1971 ~ 1978 completed), the postoperative recurrence rate of cholesteatoma points into different periods
