Using the World Bank’s research data on Chinese companies, this paper examines the spillover effect of FDI on Chinese corporate innovation from a vertical linkage perspective. The results of the analysis show that vertical linkages are conducive to corporate innovation and technology spillovers. And, compared with horizontal spillovers, vertical spillovers occur more prominently. The analysis of the factors affecting vertical linkages shows that the number of managers who have foreign partners, are located in industrial parks or export processing zones, join business associations, have higher domestic market share, have a higher share of imported products in the domestic market, and are educated abroad The higher the ratio, these factors are conducive to the establishment of vertical linkages. However, the export tendency of enterprises has opposite effects on forward-backward linkages.
