“芒鞋踏破,何只在道人脚下;江湖无限,何只在云水生涯。”这是台湾文化界耆宿、禅者林谷芳所著《落花寻僧去》里的一句话,正好借用来诠释他的人生况味。无论冬夏,一袭白衣,一头银发,说着一口“台味国语”的林谷芳,数十年如一日自在遨游于中华文化的无限江湖之中,修禅、讲禅、游历、著述,执着于从传统文化中寻找当代中国人安身立命的智慧,也期望两岸回归共同的文化母体,携手弘扬令西方人惊奇与艳羡的东方生命哲学。
