Mr. Pan, who just died, is a senior academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the first batch of academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and served as vice president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Academician Pan Jiazheng has long been engaged in hydropower station design, construction and research work. He has participated in the planning, demonstration, design, and large and medium hydropower projects that preside over research, examination and decision-making. He participated in the demonstration of the world-famous Three Gorges Project, and served as deputy leader and chief technical officer of the demonstration leading group.
