This paper reports a planar electron source for flat panel displays. In addition to including the filament, the electron source was also tested with three different configurations of electrodes to scatter the electron flow generated by the oxidized cathode filament: one is a convex electrode spaced a narrow gap from the filament; the second is a cylindrical mesh electrode ; The third is an oval mesh electrode.
