The later works by the American contemporary writer Philip Rose, represented by “American Trilogy ” which was produced at the end of the last century, show the trend of neo-realism characterized by the integration of history and fiction. This is not only a simple turning point of the creative approach. Rose uses three cultural elements of “neo-realism” such as shaping the typical middle-class representative of the middle class under the background of the special time-domain in the United States and the context of the United States, and describes the major social issues of the United States after World War II The impact of historical events on the lives of ordinary people reproduces the predicament that contemporary Americans face in their absurd history.
