The purpose is to investigate the effects of active and passive exercise on pilots superoxide dismutase (SOD) and several vasoactive substances. Methods Forty-two healthy male fighter pilots were randomly divided into two groups: active and passive. The levels of plasma SOD, CGRP, 6 - K - PGF1α and TXB2 were measured before and after the experiment. The results showed that plasma SOD, CGRP, 6 - K - PGF1α and TXB2 in both groups increased after the test, P <0. Conclusion Both active and passive exercise can enhance the body’s ability to scavenge oxygen free radicals and improve blood supply to heart and brain.
