词汇是语言的三大要素之一(语法、发音和词汇),在英语学习中起着重要的作用。D.A.Wilkins(1972)提出,“没有语法,很多东西无法表达;没有词汇,则什么也不能表达”。不管一个人的语法和发音有多好,如果他没有足够的词汇来表达自己的感觉或理解他人的观点,他是不能用语言与他人进行交流的。然而,对于大多数高中生来说,词汇学习是最难的部分之一。当面对众多英语单词时,他们总是觉得无从下手。为了提高他们的词汇学习效率,词汇学习策略研究是非常有必要的。
Vocabulary is one of the three major elements of language (grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary) and plays an important role in English learning. D.A. Wilkins (1972) suggested that “there is no grammar, many things can not be expressed; there is no vocabulary, then nothing can be expressed.” No matter how well a person’s grammar and pronunciation are, he can not communicate with others in words if he does not have enough words to express his feelings or to understand the opinions of others. However, vocabulary learning is one of the hardest parts for most high school students. When faced with many English words, they always feel unable to start. In order to improve their vocabulary learning efficiency, vocabulary learning strategy research is very necessary.
