In September 2013, Su Shi’s “Gong Fu Tie” was launched at the Sotheby’s auction in New York City, winning a bid of $ 8,229,000 (equivalent to 50.37 million yuan) by Liu Yiqian, a collector from Shanghai, China. In December, three museum librarians from the Shanghai Museum, Zhong Yinlan, Shan Guolin and Ling Lizhong, designated this “Gong Fu Tie” as a double-clump fill in the middle and late Qing Dynasty. January 13, 2014, New York Sotheby’s Chinese ancient calligraphy and painting department released a report, insisted that “Gong Fu Tie” is the original trace of Su Shi. Only nine words “Gong Fu posts” the authenticity of the problem and methods of identification of ancient calligraphy and painting, has become the hot industry focus.
