Human anti-animal antibodies (HAAA) can interfere with immunological assays and the most common HAAA is a human anti-mouse antibody. Immunosuppressive agents are often used to treat or use humanized, pegylated antibodies or Fab fragments to avoid HAAA production. HAAA can be tested using a number of immunological methods, but there is a lack of comparability between these approaches. This review summarizes the generation and types of HAAA, the scope and significance of the interference with immunological assays
