The National Center of Ocean Standards and Metrology (NCOSM) was founded in1989,and is responsible for national oceanographic standardization, metrology andquanty management in china. It falls under the direction of the State Oceanic Admlnistration(SOA) of the People’s Republic of China and the General Administration of QualitySupervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ). The center is also home to the NationalOceanic Metering Station and the National Testing and Evaluating Institution, which are jointlyauthorized by the Ministry of Science and Technology and AQSIQ.In addition, the center serves as the National Legal Metrological Verification Institution,and tests science and technology achievements.Both the Office of Metrology Accreditation and the Secretariat of Oceanic Standardization
