Using seven sets of tall and dwarf near isogeniclines bred by semidwarf×8/tall varieties(B_7F_5),the pleiotropism of semidwarf gene sdI on shoot and root traits of seedlings in indicarice were studied.Tall and dwarf near isogeniclines on Ainanzaol×8/Liantangzao(T1 andD1),Erjiuqing ×8/Liantangzao(T2 andD2),Fulianai×8/Liantangzao(T3 and D3),Erjiufeng × 8/LiantangZao(T4 and D4),Guangluai4 ×8/Liantangzao(T5 and D5),Erjiufeng×8/Lucaihao(T6 an D6),andGuangluai4 ×8/Lucaihao(T7 and D7)wereused for this study.Seedlings were cultured in water basin at 1m×1m×5m during early season in 1994.The germinated seeds were sown on 20 May atspace of 5×4cm.There were 20 plants ineach plot with three replications.Agronomictraits were measured on 3 July,including plantheight(PH),tiller number(TN),total freshweight of shoot(TFWS),total dry weight ofshoot(TDWS),root number(RN),rootlength(RL),total fresh weight of root
